How to fill out Texas VTR-34-S

The certified copy application for a vehicle already carrying a salvage or nonrepairable title. It is a separate form from the ordinary VTR-34, and it goes to a different address.

Written against VTR-34-S (Rev 08/16), issued under Texas Transportation Code 501.134. Check the department record for an old lien before you post this. A lien somebody stopped thinking about in 2014 is still on the record until somebody files to take it off.

Two documents, and they are not the same thing. Take the blank VTR-34-S from the txdmv.gov copy so you get the revision that is current today.

What gets this one rejected

Every line here was read off VTR-34-S (Rev 08/16) itself — the PDF is here — and off the Texas Department of Motor Vehicles pages. This is plain-language help with a form, not legal advice, and where our wording and the agency's differ, theirs governs.
