The stand-alone version of the certification that appears on the title, the bill of sale and the application: one page, one reading, three code boxes, two signatures. The division accepts the disclosure in any of those four homes, so this sheet exists for the sales where none of the others worked out - an assignment with no room, an application not yet drafted, or a transfer where the odometer statement is the only piece still missing.

The heading paragraph is blunter than most: failure to complete an odometer disclosure statement, or providing false information, may result in fines and/or imprisonment. It is the shortest form in the New Mexico set and the one with the longest reach.
Two documents, and they are not the same thing. Take the blank MVD-10187 from the realfile.tax.newmexico.gov copy so you get the revision that is current today, then print our MVD-10187 guide and keep it beside you while you fill theirs in.

The whole form is one certification: the reading, one ticked code, and two signed columns. The AM box is checked because the reading is true; the other two boxes exist for odometers that rolled over or cannot be believed.

Watch out: Copy the VIN from the certificate, and check it against the windshield plate once. This sheet travels with the title packet, and a VIN mismatch unstitches the pair.

Watch out: A digital cluster that will not light up gets no invented number: record what can be read, or leave the figure blank with the honest code, and expect questions - that is the system working.

AM for a true reading, EL for an odometer past its mechanical limit, NM when the reading is not the mileage.
Watch out: A five-digit odometer on a long-lived car is the EL case the manual itself walks through: 24357 showing on a car that has plainly travelled further is disclosed as 24357 with EL, not as a guess at the true total.

What gets this one rejected
•A reading with tenths, commas of guesswork, or a placeholder. The blank says (no tenths), and the division no longer accepts 888888-style filler as a reading under any code.
•No code box ticked. The reading alone certifies nothing - the code is the statement.
•The buyer's half left for later. Both signatures make the disclosure; one is a draft.
•Used for an off-highway vehicle. The one class of motor vehicle New Mexico excuses from the odometer statement is the OHV - this sheet has no purpose there.
•A reading that disagrees with the assignment or the application. The prescreen reads the packet's documents against each other, and the odometer figure is the first thing compared.
•An exempt vehicle forced into NM. This revision prints no EX box; on a 2010-or-older vehicle the exemption is recorded by the division, and NM - a discrepancy warning - is not a substitute.
Rules that decide whether it is accepted
•Four documents can carry the disclosure; use one. The manual's list: the assignment on the back of the New Mexico title, the Bill of Sale, this statement, or the application. Duplicating it multiplies the chances of two readings disagreeing.
•The division disclaims the arithmetic, not the duty. The form notes the MVD is not responsible for false or fraudulent odometer statements and not liable for recording errors - the certification, and its criminal exposure, are the signers' own.
