Once you have orders

Who to call, and where a shipped car goes

  • Fort Campbell Transportation. The personal property office at the Soldier Support Center, 2702 Michigan Ave., asks you to get in touch as soon as you have orders. Call 270-798-7151, weekdays 7:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., closed 11:30 to noon. Ask whether your move qualifies to ship the car at government cost.
  • PCSmyPOV, if a car ships. Turn-in happens at a vehicle processing center, and PCSmyPOV lists none in Tennessee or Kentucky. The closest to Clarksville are the St. Louis VPC in Pontoon Beach, Ill., and the Atlanta VPC in Ellenwood, Ga. Both list weekday hours of 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.
  • Us, for the car that stays behind. Get your offer and pick a pickup day before you out-process. With the title and any payoff lined up, the sale can close in days.
Local pickup

Where we pick up around Clarksville

Pickup is free across Clarksville's 37040, 37042 and 37043 ZIP codes, from Sango and St. Bethlehem to the neighborhoods just outside the Fort Campbell gates. Over the state line we also come to Oak Grove and Hopkinsville in Kentucky. On the Tennessee side we go out to Woodlawn, down I-24 to Pleasant View, and on to Ashland City and Springfield.

A title from another state, or a loan with a far-off lender? We handle out-of-state titles and distant lienholders, and when you mention them in the first conversation we build the close around them. Our guides cover selling a car with an out-of-state title and selling a car that still has a loan.

Fort Campbell PCS

Shipping, The Garage, or the U-Buy/U-Sell lot

Military OneSource says PCS orders can entitle you to ship or store one privately owned vehicle at government cost. On a move inside the continental U.S., getting the car to the new post is largely your own cost. If your household has two cars, the second one usually needs a plan of its own.

Fort Campbell has two options of its own. To keep a car here, The Garage, run by the post's MWR at 58th Street and Tennessee Avenue, has 16 indoor spaces with 24-hour access, for short or long stays. To sell it yourself, the MWR U-Buy/U-Sell lot sits behind Air Assault Auto on Airborne Street. You need a DoD or Veterans ID card, current state registration and proof of insurance, and the space is rented by the month.

Selling it to us is the third choice. If that fits, start with our guide on how to sell your car before a PCS move.

Junk and non-runners

Cash for your car in Clarksville

A car that no longer runs can't wait on the post's U-Buy/U-Sell lot, which takes only vehicles in operable condition that meet environmental requirements. At home inside city limits, the Codes Enforcement Division says no vehicle may be parked on the grass; it has to sit on concrete, asphalt or gravel.

An old, wrecked or dead car can still get an offer, and pickup is free from wherever it sits, so cash for cars in Clarksville, TN doesn't depend on the car starting. If it's only worth its parts, cash for junk cars in Clarksville starts the same way; here is how selling a junk car works.

Fort Campbell details to plan around

  • •A space on the U-Buy/U-Sell lot costs $25 a month for vehicles under 20 feet and $45 for 20 feet and over; $5 more puts a photo of your car on the Fort Campbell MWR website (Fort Campbell MWR)
  • •Visitor passes now come from the Gate 7 Visitor Control Center, 7199 Glider Road, open 24/7 since April 14, while the TC Freeman (Gate 4) center is temporarily closed (Fort Campbell gate page, updated March 2026)
Clarksville questions

Asked by Clarksville sellers

Where does the paperwork go after I sell my car in Clarksville, TN?

If the buyer lives in Montgomery County, to the County Clerk, the office that handles titles and tags here and the one people often call the Tennessee DMV. It's at 350 Pageant Lane, Suite 502, open weekdays 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. (931-648-5711). For a title in hand, the clerk asks for the title and any lien release, proof of identification and two proofs of residency.

I'm stationed at Fort Campbell but claim another state. Do I owe Montgomery County's wheel tax?

If you qualify, one car a year is exempt. The County Clerk gives active-duty members who aren't Tennessee residents and are stationed at a Tennessee base, Fort Campbell included, one wheel tax exemption each year. You show an End of Month LES dated within the last 90 days. If Tennessee is your tax state on the LES, or you already used the exemption on another registration, the $74 wheel tax is added to the $29 renewal, for $103 at the counter.

My car is on the U-Buy/U-Sell lot. How does a civilian buyer get on Fort Campbell to see it?

With a visitor pass. The driver shows vehicle registration, proof of insurance and a driver's license at a visitor control center, and every rider 18 or older needs a pass too. Everyone needs a REAL ID or another approved federal ID. A pass can also be requested online up to 10 days ahead at pass.aie.army.mil.

My car died at a Clarksville repair shop and I can't pay to fix it. How long can it sit there?

Not indefinitely. The city's property maintenance code limits commercial properties, auto repair shops included, to 90 days of storage for an inoperable vehicle; more time needs state paperwork showing the car is unclaimed. Inoperable cars stored there must also be kept out of view from outside the property. If the repair costs more than the car is worth to you, ask for an offer on it as it sits.

How to sign over a Tennessee title is on our Tennessee selling page.
