Where Henderson's DMV errands go
- Until it closes: 1399 American Pacific Dr. Henderson's office, which also does VIN inspections, keeps weekday hours of 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., plus 8 a.m. until 4 p.m. on Saturdays, and you need an appointment (Nevada DMV office list).
- After that: Silverado, 9850 S. Valley View Blvd., Las Vegas. The DMV is moving Henderson's services into this new office, which it calls the state's largest, with more counters, over 350 parking spaces and two drive-through kiosks. When it announced the move on September 8, 2026, it said an opening date would follow, so check the office list before you drive over (DMV announcement).
- Lost title, or plates to turn in: two counters stay in town. The DMV's registration partner has two Henderson counters, at 1511 W. Sunset Road and 1000 N. Green Valley Parkway, Suite 620. Both can order a duplicate title and take surrendered plates, 9:15 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. They can't do a title transfer or a VIN inspection (DMV office list). Henderson's property code spells out what counts as an inoperable car: wrecked, stripped, up on blocks, sitting on flat tires, or missing its engine, wheels or lights. A car like that has to be kept out of ordinary public view, inside a garage or behind permitted fencing. No lot may hold more than two of them unless they're in a garage or other fully enclosed building. A tarp or plastic sheeting put up as a screen is a violation of its own unless it's part of a manufactured screen or fence (HMC 15.12.030).
There is one short exception. A single car registered to someone who lives there can stay in view for up to 72 hours of minor repair, such as a tune-up, brakes or tires. An engine or transmission replacement, or bodywork, is not minor under the code (HMC 15.12.020), so a car that needs that kind of work has to be kept out of sight. Parking limits that end in a tow or a fine
- •At least 72 hours: the time a violation notice on a car must give before it can be towed (HMC 10.06)
- •Up to $500 per occurrence: the civil penalty the registered owner can be cited for, and a tow under these rules is at the owner's expense (HMC 10.06)
- •15 feet: a car parked that close to a fire hydrant can be towed at once, on public or private property, even with no sign and no red curb. The same goes for a posted fire lane (HMC 10.06)

Is there a spot at a Henderson police station to meet a private buyer?
Henderson police keep a marked Internet Sales Exchange Zone in the front parking lot of two stations: North, at 225 E. Sunset Road, and West, at 2222 Via Inspirada (station addresses). The zones can be used from 8 a.m. until 4 p.m., Monday to Friday. Officers won't take part in the deal, and nothing can be dropped off and left there, so if the buyer doesn't show, the car goes home with you (City of Henderson). A local news report said the spaces are monitored around the clock. Our pickup comes to your address, so this matters most if you sell to a private buyer or go to see your next car.
Can pickup come inside a guard-gated community in Anthem or Seven Hills?
Put the pickup on your visitor list, or call it in at the gatehouse, the way you would for any contractor. Once it's through the gate, the handoff runs the same as on an open street. When you book, give the community's name and the gate to use.
Can the boat trailer wait on the street while I sell the truck that pulled it?
For 48 hours at most. Henderson's code counts boat trailers, campers and travel trailers as recreational vehicles, and none may stay longer than that on a street in or next to a residential area, or beside a school or park (HMC 10.06.030). For the truck itself, see our page on selling a truck.
Who handles a dead or abandoned car in Henderson, and when does it count as abandoned?
On a street, it's the police department's parking enforcement officers, who answer complaints about abandoned, illegally parked and unregistered vehicles. Complaints go in online, and questions about a parking violation go to 702-267-5099 (Henderson Police). On private property, it's Code Enforcement in the Office of Public Response, which takes reports online or at 702-267-3950 (City of Henderson). The code treats a car as abandoned after 48 hours on public property, or 72 hours on someone else's private property without permission (HMC 15.12.020). Moving it a short distance to get around those limits doesn't count (HMC 10.06.060).
