Replacing a lost car title in Florida
Florida charges $75.25 to replace a lost title — the same as a transfer — and then adds fees on top depending on how you want it delivered.
What Florida charges
The replacement title fee is $75.25. Lost paper title replaced with form HSMV 82101 at a motor vehicle service center; same $75.25 transfer/duplicate fee, plus $2.50 service-and-handling for a printed paper title and $10.00 for expedited fast title where offered.

The part that catches people out
The base is $75.25 on Form HSMV 82101 at a motor vehicle service center. A printed paper title adds $2.50 in service and handling, and where a fast title is offered it is a further $10.00. The reason the base is so high is that Florida does not price a duplicate separately from a transfer: you are paying the transfer rate to replace a document you already owned.

Florida also runs an electronic title system, which means a car with a loan on it may never have had a paper certificate at all. If that describes your car, you are not looking for a replacement — you are asking the lender to release an electronic record, which is a different request entirely.
