Does Carvana buy salvage title cars? Its pages don't say

Nothing on Carvana’s selling pages answers “does Carvana buy salvage title cars?”: not one of its 43 help articles on selling, nor its sell page or terms, mentions salvage or rebuilt titles. Its general rule still applies to a wreck: Carvana accepts a car only if it can safely drive it, and checks condition again at the appointment.

What Carvana’s pages say, and what they leave out

On October 25, 2026, we read all 43 articles in the Trading In & Selling section of Carvana’s help center, its sell page and its User Agreement. None of them uses the words salvage, rebuilt, branded, flood or total loss. That silence is neither a yes nor a no, so don’t read a policy into it.

Three things on those pages apply to every car, branded title or not:

The way to a real answer is to ask. Carvana’s help center says to “chat with us” for support at any step, so raise the title brand there before you count on an offer. Our guide to salvage and rebuilt titles explains how the two brands differ and what you owe a buyer when you sell. For the rest of Carvana’s published limits, see what Carvana won’t buy.

Does Carvana buy damaged cars?

Its selling pages don’t list damage as a reason to refuse. They treat it as condition: the online questions ask about overall condition, accident history feeds the price, and the appointment includes a visual inspection.

That leaves the drive test as the line. Damage that leaves the car unsafe to drive rules it out. On a car that drives safely, Carvana’s selling pages talk about damage only as part of condition and price. Describe it fully, because Carvana’s offer article says it uses “car photo reviews” and a final confirmation at the appointment to catch a mismatch. A car with a clean title and only light cosmetic damage that still drives safely is where Carvana is likely to pay more than an as-is buyer, so get its offer first.

Wrecked or totaled cars

Wrecked. A car that can’t be driven after a crash fails the drive test, so Carvana is out until it’s repaired. A wreck that still drives safely goes through the same questions and appointment check as any damaged car.

Totaled. Carvana’s selling pages don’t mention total losses. If your insurer totaled the car and you kept it, check what the title says now; selling a totaled car covers the salvage title that can follow a total loss, and total-loss thresholds by state shows where each state draws the line.

What happens at inspection if you try anyway

Carvana’s offer rests on what you enter, and its terms tie the deal to that description. If the car proves “materially different,” Carvana can adjust or rescind; the same clause covers a seller who “misrepresented the condition of the vehicle.” Leaving out the brand or the damage doesn’t get a better price. It moves the surprise to the appointment.

If Carvana does make an offer on a branded car that drives well, compare it with a buyer that prices branded titles and take the better number.

Who buys salvage, rebuilt and wrecked cars

Buyers who price the brand and the damage instead of avoiding them. Selling a damaged car takes accident, frame, hail and fire damage one at a time, and selling a flood-damaged car covers water.

Our buying partner’s sell page says it buys “vehicles damaged by accidents, flooding, or hail” and that totaled cars “can still receive an offer.” A salvage, rebuilt or missing title, it adds, “may still be eligible for sale” in many states. When Carvana says no, or can’t answer the brand question, ask our buying partner for a number with the brand disclosed. Sell My Car Hub has no affiliation with Carvana.

Common questions

What people ask about this

Does Carvana buy wrecked cars?

Not if the wreck can’t be driven safely, since that fails the rule in its help center. A wrecked car that still drives isn’t excluded by name; it goes through the same condition questions and appointment check as any other car.

Does Carvana buy totaled cars?

Its selling pages don’t say. A totaled car still has to be safe for Carvana to drive, and none of its selling pages addresses the salvage title a total loss can bring. Ask Carvana in chat before you count on an offer.

Does Carvana buy rebuilt title cars?

Its selling pages don’t say that either. The stated rule doesn’t exclude a rebuilt car that drives safely, but it doesn’t promise an offer. Tell Carvana about the brand up front, and compare any offer with one from a buyer that prices rebuilt titles.
