If the car gets a Flint blight ticket
- Where it goes. Neighborhood Safety Officers write blight tickets for the city, and the Administrative Hearings Bureau, often called the city's Blight Court, handles them at 1101 S. Saginaw St.
- How to answer. The bureau's form AHB017 lets you admit responsibility, or deny it and request a hearing.
- What it can cost. The city's fiscal 2027 fee schedule lists a blight violation fine of $250 to $10,000, plus $250 in hearings bureau costs and a $100 default fee. The bureau can reduce fines for owners who cooperate and aren't repeat offenders.

Cash for your car in Flint
In Flint, a car that has stopped running can become police business. The department's Traffic Division runs a Neighborhood Safety Officer Program that focuses on blight and abandoned vehicles. In a May 2022 enforcement push, the department said abandoned or inoperable vehicles on private property would get a ticket giving the owner 14 days to remove them, then a tow if they stayed.

If the engine or the transmission is what stopped it, selling a car with a blown engine or head gasket and selling a car whose transmission slips or goes into limp mode each weigh fixing it against selling it as is. If the insurer called it a total loss after a crash, selling a totaled car explains the payout, buying it back and the salvage title.

My car won't start and it's parked on a Flint street. What happens when it snows?
Once the city declares a snow emergency, it asks residents to keep cars off public streets so crews can plow, and a car left there may be ticketed and removed at the owner's expense. The city is split into six plow areas, with downtown as a separate seventh, and crews go out to all six when more than four inches of snow falls within 24 hours. These are City of Flint rules; Flint Township is run separately.
